Thermodynamics
The thermodynamics research line focuses on the field of applied thermodynamics, with an emphasis on the experimental determination of thermo physical and equilibrium properties, as well as the development of thermodynamic models and the thermodynamic analysis of processes. Statistical mechanics, molecular simulation, and non-equilibrium thermodynamics.

The chemical reaction engineering research line focuses on chemical process kinetics and catalysis, both homogeneous and heterogeneous., It also addresses the development and characterization of new catalysts.

Transport Phenomena, Particulate Systems and Porous Media
Develops research related to moment transfer, heat and mass, and related unit operations, ㅤ, filtration, adsorption, etc., with very varied applications in process engineering (power generation, biomass conversion, biofuel production) and emphasis on particulate systems and porous media.

Science and Technology of the materials
Develops research in materials sciences, eminently interdisciplinary in character, with an emphasis on the development of new materials, formulations and processes. Study the synthesis, processing, Description, simulation of production processes and material behavior. In polymerization processes, studies the kinetics and techniques of condensation and addition. In composites processing, blends and nanocomposites include physical-chemical characterization techniques, thermal, mechanics and morphology of the obtained products, with application in the most diverse areas: aerospace, medical, environmental, automaker, electronics, packaging, civil and nautical construction, among others.

Science and Engineering of Bioprocesses and Bioresources
Develops research related to biotechnological processes, with a wide variety of applications, as development of biomaterials, bioproduct purification, fermentative and enzymatic processes, renewable energy, nanobiotecnologia, between others.

Develops research related to the environmental impact of chemical processes, with an emphasis on the treatment of industrial and hospital waste and effluents, in the control of the validity of chemical products and in the control of atmospheric pollution.

Synthesis, Process Analysis and Optimization
Develops research related to modeling, improvement and optimization of chemical processes, using techniques such as computational fluid dynamics, process intensification, energy integration, among others. Applications are extremely varied, including biotechnological processes, petrochemicals, environmental, risk and security analysis.

Process Control and Automation
Develops research applied to control, automation and modeling of chemical processes, petrochemicals, biotechnological and polymerization, using conventional tools (phenomenological modeling, feedback, optimization) and unconventional, like fuzzy logic, neural networks and artificial intelligence. It also conducts research in the instrumentation area, with the use of optical and acoustic sensors.

Chemical Engineering Education
